Oops sorry everyone...
I've been missing and out of action. Baby fell sick last Tuesday, followed by 5 year old, daughter's friend who is staying with us, husband and finally, tho only slightly - thank goodness - me. Stomach bug - yuk. Daughter going back to school tomorrow, baby back to normal. Much washing of sheets and clothing over the past week!
And I promised to post about Will's talk. And I didn't. But if you are still waiting to hear more about that, then check out Azzam's review because he did a really great one. Now I have to catch up and try and get that RSS stuff moving here.
Internet connection is playing up too... Is there no end to the girl's excuses?

Will's RSS Eluminate Session
I'm sorry for those that missed Will's talk because it was so exciting: The environment, the ability to hear and see what he was talking about, and the result of understanding and becoming excited about it!!
Some really useful information, almost all of which was new to me, delivered with energy and enthusiasm that is so energizing. I have to admit to being a bit of an anti-tekk. I see people talking about things like RSS and immediately get this kind of dull feeling in the base of my spine (when I was a kid I used to say my back was bored!) which reaches all the way up my spine and weighs heavily on my eyelids, and I have problems taking anything in past those first formidable letters. But tonight was so much fun!!
I'll sign up to write up again if nobody has done it yet. If not, I'll just write my own personal review here. Watch this space.
And we got to draw on the whiteboard too, which reminds me why my 5 and 6 year olds get such a kick out of drawing on the regular one!! :-)
Fun evening, resisting temptation to sign up for my bloglines account right now... need bed now!!

What did you eat today?
Enough of this learning and reflection already! Had a weird throw-together dinner tonight of sushi, mashed potato with cheese, okra with bonito flakes and soy sauce, and asparagus wrapped with bacon. Made me wonder what other people were eating...? Let me know -->
Just what the world needs...
...another blog. Check out my compare and contrast blog at 20six and see if you're tempted to move.
Read our Summary!
If you haven't visited the Community of Practice Blog recently, get over there to check out the summary that me, Paddy and Bogdan made of Anne Davies' Friday Tapped-In session. OK, partly shameless self-promotion but, if you missed the talk, you might want to know what she said too!! And you might want to pose some questions or get involved in the lively discussion that it is sure to generate ;0)

It's all over... Well, week one anyway!
Hurray! Survived the first week and got over my first bout of online dementia. Worked out where everything is in this course and, to some extent, what everything does. I'm no longer scared wikiless by some of this new technology although I'll be interested to see if it all really comes together for me by the end.
Milestones:
I actually attended a Tapped-In session - I've known about Tapped-In for a few years but when I've wanted to attend things, they've always been in the middle of the night for me (like 4a.m.) and I've just never managed to do it! This one was at 11pm and I made it (though interrupted half way through by baby). I felt nervous at first because I read all the rules about not interrupting the talk and sending personal messages privately, so I didn't dare say anything (a rare thing for me!) but I got comfy after a while and realised when saying things was appropriate. I still typed much more than I said. Wish I could do that in real life too :-) Anne was energetic and welcoming and full of excitement so it was good to feed off her energy and that of the other participants.
I got buddies!! I worked with Paddy and Bogdan to make the summary of the Tapped-In chat. OK, I think Bogdan did most of the work - thx Bogdan - but it was really fun and then Paddy and Bogdan both made me Tapped-In buddies, which was very exciting. I have buddies!! I have buddies!! Haven't been back to T-I yet but of course I'm planning to buddy them back :-)
I worked with my buddies ;-) on the wiki. It went well in that we managed to talk to each other OK and seemed to finish it OK, but I'm wondering if we used the wiki in the right way. Of course, if we finished and ended up with an OK product, we did it right, but I'd like to know if we used the environment in the most effective way, and/or any tips for improving its use.
Finally got my name on the collaborative blog. Missed that invite but got another one. Will be interested to see how that takes off. The mods say it's going to somehow replace our YG to an extent, but I think I'll be a bit disappointed if it ends up just being a kind of bulletin board. Let's see...
I like that this workshop is so full already. I know this may have left some people trailing (it nearly did me) and I sympathise with them, but it's good to be doing something meaty and ot just wasting a week on intros. I haven't read that many of the articles yet, so I need to do some of that too but I've really enjoyed the interactive element. This workshop rocks! Let's hope I can keep up with it. What on earth is RSS?!!

Online dementia
4 days in and I'm suffering from online dementia (new improved name!). Never heard of it? It's a disease that afflicts Internet users who try to navigate among several new inter-connected web environments without break. It starts out with slight feelings of confusion but, after a few hours, manifests itself as a nervous click as the hapless web wanderer goes around in loops and off at tangents in a frantic click-frenzy. A growing feeling of panic and a forboding sense of certainty that something important is being missed can be indicators that shut-down is close. While for many this shutdown is temporary, some never make it back...

Still here are you?
Well come on in, make yourself at home, grab that cup of tea and join me on this blog-quest. So, like me, you thought a WIKI was one of those cute wooly characters living in a galaxy far far away? Apparently not. Wikis are all around us, they tell me, they exist right here in this blogosphere. And you thought you were right on the cutting edge because you had created yourself one of them web log things that everyone is talking about. That's WAS talking about. So last year or was that so twentieth century?! Utterly and totally confused? You're not the only one. Join me here for this 6 week EV workshop when all will be explained... I hope!
